Top 5 most interesting places I've peed in Southeast Asia

5. A bathroom in Nature bar in Ko Chang, Thailand- you remove your shoes at the door, so when it's time to go to the bathroom, you go barefoot- the floor is covered in mud, and I had an open sore on the bottom of my foot thanks to some coral while snorkeling

4. The favorite of Southeast Asia- the "squatter"- ceramic lined holes in the floor that require you to hold your skirt, bag, etc up in the air while precariously balancing on the rim (we learned to always carry a roll of toilet paper in our bag, as this region apparently doesn't use any)

3. A rice field in Savannakhet- on an all-day trek through the woods, there aren't a lot of rest stops, so when we camped out for lunch at a farmer's shed, our only option was behind a tree on his property

2. The restaurant in Laos- we ate on a sidewalk cafe (literally, there were short tables on the sidewalk, and we ate by sitting on cushions on the ground), and in lieu of toilets they had a bamboo railing leading down to the Mekong river where people squatted by trees

1. A haybale on the side of the road in Cambodia- our driver was particularly intense on speed efficiency, so when we asked him to stop for a toilet, he pulled over to the side of the dirt road and pointed at a haybale (Cambodia is especially well known for having land mines only feet from the road, so I was hoping that particular pee was not my last one)
